It is important to be as stealthy as possible when shallow water fishing. One of the ways that I reduce noise is by turning off the sonar ping in my 1158 and 1198 Humminbird units. Even though the sonar is turned off I still have full access to waypoints and the ability to utilize GPS navigation.
